Two narrow lots of 30'x120' and 27'x145', respectively, combined with a 25' height limit presented challenges in creating these single family homes. The resulting designs combine elements of both urban townhomes and the neighboring single family homes.
Home One took on a more traditional/transitional approach on 3 levels, with each level functioning as a distinct zone. The first level provides the living and entertaining functions and includes a large terrace, the home's private outdoor space. The middle level contains 3 bedroom suites and a playroom which serves as the Kid's zone, and the top level is a private master retreat carved into the roof with barrel vault dormers and a spacious deck.
Home Two took on a contemporary approach on two levels with an expansive third level terrace. Again, the first level provides the living and entertaining functions which includes a dramatic great room with 16' ceilings exposed steel beams and a full height rotating door which leads to the outdoor terrace. An open stair flanked by full height glass walls punctuates the center of the home and separates the upper floor master suite via bridge from the other 2 bedroom suites. An operable skylight allows access the 550 s.f. roof-top terrace.
